US Debt Nears $41.1 Trillion Limit Again
The US Treasury's total debt hit $40.56 trillion on November 5, closing in on the $41.1 trillion borrowing limit Congress approved last year. Wall Street strategists now tell Bloomberg the government could bump against that statutory cap as early as February, barely more than a year after lawmakers last raised it. The shrinking gap keeps $TLT and the long end of the Treasury curve on edge as another debt-ceiling fight comes back into view before markets are ready for it.
