Iamgold to Halve Gold Royalty Burden for $525M

IAMGOLD will pay roughly $525 million to buy back half of Franco-Nevada's gross margin royalty on the Côté Gold mine in Ontario. The deal cuts the royalty rate IAMGOLD owes from 7.5% to 3.75%, effective January 1, 2027. Franco-Nevada's partner Sumitomo declined to join the buyback, so IAMGOLD ($IAG) is funding the entire repurchase alone and keeps the full economic benefit.
