Treasury Buys Back $6 Billion in Bonds

The US Treasury bought back $6 billion of Treasury notes and bonds maturing 2037-2046 ($TLH) on November 4, filling the maximum it had set for the operation, according to the results published on TreasuryDirect. Offers totaled $39.636 billion, 6.6x the amount accepted, and Treasury took bonds in 7 of the 40 eligible issues, maturing between 2037 and 2046. The operation settles on November 5. Buybacks are paid from the Treasury's cash account, so they put money back into the banking system.
