Nextera Clears Path for $67 Billion Dominion Deal

NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy strengthened the customer safeguards tied to their $67 billion merger, accepting 101 of the 117 conditions Virginia regulators proposed exactly as written and modifying another 13. The companies also pledged up to $5 billion in Virginia supplier spending over five years alongside four years of shareholder-funded bill credits for Dominion customers. The deal, which would create the largest regulated utility in the country, is still expected to close in the second half of 2027. The concessions narrow the gap with Virginia's State Corporation Commission before the acquisition of $D by $NEE can clear its final hurdle.
