CODELCO FLAGS NEW COPPER OUTPUT DISCREPANCIES
Chile's Codelco, the world's largest copper producer, has sent prosecutors new evidence that its Ministro Hales and Salvador divisions may have double-counted the same material as 2024-2025 output, and ordered a fresh independent audit to measure the damage to its consolidated figures. It's the second such episode this year: an earlier probe already forced Codelco to restate 26,875 tonnes of overstated 2025 production, about 2% of annual output, and discipline eight executives over bonuses tied to those numbers. Copper watchers tracking the metal through $CPER now have to price in a second data-integrity scare from the world's top supplier in the same year.
