
GOLD AND SILVER SHED NEARLY $400B IN 90 MINUTES
Gold futures fell from $4,179.60 to $4,130.70 between 9:00 and 10:35 pm ET, a drop of about 1.2%, while silver slid from $61.52 to $60.67, down about 1.4%. Based on the estimated above-ground stock of both metals, that wiped close to $400 billion off their combined value at the lows. The selloff comes with the US dollar index at its highest close since April 2025. Both metals have since pared part of the drop, with gold back at $4,148.70.
