NVIDIA FACES QUESTIONS OVER AI CHIP SMUGGLING INTO CHINA

US officials are asking why Nvidia ($NVDA) missed the warning signs as its AI chips kept reaching China despite US export restrictions, Bloomberg reports. The scrutiny follows a string of cases: last week the Justice Department charged Greg Lui, owner of California-based Earthmade Computer, with smuggling more than $300 million of export-controlled servers with US-made GPUs to China in 2023-2024, routed through Malaysia and Singapore. Nvidia shares closed Monday at $238.90, up 2.1%.
