GLOBAL FOOD PRICES HIT HIGHEST SINCE 2022

The FAO Food Price Index averaged 136.0 points in September, its highest since November 2022 and 5.8% above a year earlier. Cereals did the lifting: wheat $WEAT rose 6.3% in the month on logistical problems in the Black Sea, and maize hit its highest level in more than three years. The index is still 15% below its March 2022 peak.
