IRAN AND U.S. CLASH OVER HORMUZ MINES

Iran's Revolutionary Guards say four tankers caught fire after hitting mines in the Strait of Hormuz, directly contradicting U.S. Central Command's claim that American forces had already cleared mines from the waterway's main transit routes. IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi demanded "independent evidence" for the U.S. clearing claim, saying the strait's status is decided "in the air, on land and at sea, not on social media." The Strait of Hormuz normally carries about one-fifth of global energy supplies, and oil tracked by $USO stays hostage to whichever version of events holds up.
