TREASURY BUYS BACK $6 BILLION IN BONDS

The US Treasury bought back $6 billion of Treasury notes and bonds maturing 2046-2056 ($TLT) on October 27, filling the maximum it had set for the operation, according to the results published on TreasuryDirect. Offers totaled $10.746 billion, 1.8x the amount accepted, and Treasury took bonds in 6 of the 35 eligible issues, maturing between 2046 and 2056. The operation settles on October 28. Buybacks are paid from the Treasury's cash account, so they put money back into the banking system.
