USTR WARNS AIRBUS LOAN MAY BREAK TRADE TRUCE
The US Trade Representative said Monday that a $3.4 billion loan the European Investment Bank gave Airbus in June may violate the 2021 US-EU truce on aircraft subsidies. Jamieson Greer's office says it never got details on the financing despite repeated requests, and wants the matter resolved quickly to keep aircraft production market-driven. Boeing ($BA) had already pushed Washington in July to scrutinize that same loan, arguing it tilts competition with its only direct rival. Airbus and Boeing are the two names most exposed if the truce actually cracks.
