JAPAN SELLS FOREIGN BONDS FIFTH STRAIGHT WEEK
Japanese investors net sold $1.0 billion in foreign long-term bonds in the week through October 17, the fifth straight week of selling and the longest such streak in four years, Japan's Ministry of Finance data show. Over those five weeks, cumulative net sales reached roughly $22 billion, as domestic Japanese bond yields now outcompete foreign debt. The same week, Japanese investors also sold a net $1.0 billion in short-term foreign bonds, their second such sale in three weeks. The retreat tightens a key source of demand for global bonds, including US Treasuries. $EWJ
