GM CANCELS MAGNET DEAL AT ENERGY FUELS FACTORY
General Motors scrapped its long-term supply deal for rare-earth magnets at a South Carolina plant that Energy Fuels is buying as part of its $1.9 billion acquisition of Germany's Vacuumschmelze. The plant's e-VAC Magnetics unit filed for arbitration in July, calling the termination wrongful and demanding the payments owed over the remaining life of the contract. Energy Fuels has since rewritten the merger price to account for the dispute at a factory built for 2,000 tonnes of annual magnet capacity, scalable to 12,000 tonnes. $UUUU now carries the risk of losing the customer the plant was built around.
