KINDER MORGAN BUILDS PIPELINE FOR AI DATA CENTER
Kinder Morgan is committing to the Permian Link, a 434-mile natural gas pipeline that will carry gas specifically for an A-rated hyperscale data center client under long-term, take-or-pay contracts through 2030. The project costs $4.2 billion in total, with $KMI funding $1.6 billion of that directly, while a separate pipeline under construction, the Southeast Connector, is aimed at power plants rather than AI infrastructure. The two expansions push Kinder Morgan's natural gas project backlog to a record $13.2 billion, the largest in the company's history.
