CORPORATE TAX RECEIPTS SINK 16% IN FY2026
Corporate income tax receipts fell $70 billion, or 16%, in fiscal year 2026, the Congressional Budget Office reports. The drop came even as total federal revenue rose $169 billion, or 3%, to $5.4 trillion, lifted by individual income and payroll taxes. CBO ties the corporate decline to new investment deductions created by last year's tax law. The federal deficit for the year reached $2 trillion, a gap that keeps Treasury issuance flowing into bonds like $TLT. Washington is collecting more from paychecks and less from corporate profits.
