CANADA'S INFLATION ACCELERATES WHILE CORE MEASURE COOLS
Canada's annual inflation rate rose to 3.1% in September, up from 3.0% in August, driven largely by a jump in gasoline prices, Statistics Canada reported. The core measure that strips out gasoline moved the other way, cooling to 2.2% from the prior month. The split print lands just days before the Bank of Canada's October 28 decision, where traders are increasingly pricing in the central bank's first rate hike after a long stretch of holds. The Canadian dollar ($FXC) is in focus as markets reprice the path for borrowing costs.
