GASOLINE DRIVES US INFLATION TO 3.7%
US consumer prices rose 3.7% from a year earlier in September, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on October 14, picking up from August's pace. Core inflation, which strips out food and energy, held cooler at 2.6%. Gasoline jumped 9.1% during the month and alone accounted for more than half of the total increase. The widening gap between headline and core inflation narrows the Fed's room to cut rates again. $TIP
