FOREIGN PRIVATE INVESTORS FLIP TO NET BUYERS
Foreign private investors sold $3.7 billion of long-term U.S. securities in July. In August they bought $257.8 billion, according to Treasury Department data released this week. Total foreign purchases of long-term U.S. securities jumped to $300.7 billion from $40.6 billion the month before, while the broader net TIC inflow nearly tripled to $199.8 billion. The swing lands as the AI trade wobbles and oil tops $110, a reminder of how much foreign capital still backstops U.S. markets. $UUP
