US IMPORT PRICES POST BIGGEST JUMP SINCE 2022

U.S. import prices rose 1.1% in September, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported, pushing the annual increase to 8.1%, the fastest 12-month gain since July 2022. The jump is almost entirely an energy story: natural gas import prices surged 96.5% over the past year and petroleum rose 35.4%, while prices for everything else the US imports climbed just 6.0%. $UNG tracks the natural gas exposure behind most of that gap, as supply fears tied to the Middle East and Russia sanctions keep showing up in the inflation data the Fed watches most closely.
