PRUDENTIAL TAKES $140 MILLION JAPAN CHARGE
Prudential Financial told the SEC in a preliminary filing that halting new life insurance sales in Japan cut that unit's pre-tax adjusted operating income by $140 million in the third quarter of 2026. The charge covers agent compensation, lost sales and policy surrenders tied to the suspension. Asset manager PGIM, Prudential's other core business, still closed the quarter with $1.47 trillion under management. $PRU files its full results later this month, with one division absorbing losses while the other keeps growing.
