TRUIST'S GAAP PROFIT SINKS ON $1.4 BILLION CHARGE

Truist Financial's adjusted diluted EPS rose to $1.16 in the third quarter, up 12% from a year earlier. But GAAP diluted EPS collapsed to $0.56, down from $1.23 in the second quarter, after the bank took a $1.4 billion pretax loss repositioning its securities portfolio. Deposits still climbed to $410.7 billion, up 1.4% from the prior quarter, and net interest margin held at 3.00%. $TFC
