BNY PROFIT JUMPS 24% AS CAPITAL RATIO SLIPS
BNY's adjusted earnings per share jumped 24% year-over-year to $2.37 in the third quarter, with revenue up 12% to $5.68 billion and assets under custody and administration reaching a record $63.4 trillion. The gains came with a trade-off: the bank's core capital ratio fell to 10.9%, down from 11.7% a year earlier, as $BNY leaned harder on its balance sheet to fund that growth. Average deposits rose 4% to $311 billion even as the capital cushion thinned.
