KOSPI SINKS 7% ON CHIPMAKER ROUT
South Korea's KOSPI sank 7.1% on Thursday to 5,584.83, its sharpest drop in months, after hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation data reignited fears over AI chip valuations. Samsung Electronics fell 8.2% while SK Hynix, more exposed to AI memory demand, dropped 10.8%. $EWY, the ETF tracking Korean equities, shows how much faster the memory-chip leader is unwinding than the broader market.
