U.S. FAMILY DEBT DELINQUENCIES HIT 15-YEAR HIGH
The Federal Reserve's Survey of Consumer Finances, released October 9, found that 19.6% of families reported being late on loan payments in 2025, up from 12.2% in 2022 and the highest share since 2010. The jump reverses a decade-long trend: delinquencies had fallen from 14.9% in 2013 to 12.3% in 2019. Families at least two months behind on payments nearly doubled to 8.2% from 4.9% in 2022. Regional lenders exposed to consumer credit, like those in $KRE, face that hangover just as earnings season begins.
