EU MOVES TO HALVE CHINESE HYBRID IMPORTS
The European Commission is preparing safeguard measures to cut Chinese hybrid-car imports roughly in half, after monthly shipments exploded from 3,800 vehicles in October 2024 to 50,000 in July 2026. Chinese brands now supply about one in three plug-in hybrids sold in the EU, exploiting a tariff gap: hybrids pay a standard 10% duty while Chinese EVs face up to 45.3%. BYD ($BYDDY) and its rivals built that surge on the loophole Brussels is now moving to close.
