CHINA'S CAR RETAIL SALES SINK 22% IN SEPTEMBER

China's passenger car retailers sold 878,000 vehicles in the first 20 days of September, down 22% from a year earlier even as sales rose 8% from the prior month, the China Passenger Car Association reported. The year-over-year drop reflects a tough comparison with September 2025, when buyers rushed to beat the expiration of regional subsidies before they ran out. Chinese EV maker $NIO and its rivals are facing that same high base effect as the broader market cools from last year's subsidy-driven rush.
