US CREDIT CARD AND AUTO LOAN RATES CLIMB
The Federal Reserve's G.19 report shows the average credit card APR on interest-charged accounts rose to 22.36% in August, up from 22.15% in the second quarter. New car loan rates climbed even faster over the same stretch, jumping to 7.54% from 7.14%. Borrowing has rarely been this expensive for US households, and the squeeze lands directly on card issuers like $COF that depend on consumer credit.
