SHELL SHUTS FIVE GULF PLATFORMS AS ISAIAS NEARS
Shell ($SHEL) evacuated crews and shut in production at five Gulf of Mexico platforms — Mars, Olympus, Ursa, Vito and Appomattox — as Hurricane Isaias tracks toward the northern Gulf Coast. Chevron ($CVX) idled several more facilities nearby. Earth Science Associates projects a mean loss of 9.55 million barrels of oil before the storm clears, with roughly 500,000 barrels a day already offline. Isaias is on pace to become the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season.
