
BRENT AT $125, WTI AT $96: A $29 GAP
Brent crude closed at $125.44 a barrel on Oct. 6 and West Texas Intermediate at $96.24, according to St. Louis Fed data on FRED. Brent is up 10% in a week from $113.96, while WTI barely moved from $96.16. The $29.20 gap between the two benchmarks is among the widest on record; it reached $37.62 on Oct. 2.
