CENTRAL BANKS ADD 39 TONNES OF GOLD IN AUGUST

Global central banks bought a net 39 tonnes of gold in August, according to the World Gold Council, taking reported purchases to 170 tonnes so far in 2026. China's central bank added 20 tonnes in its 22nd straight month of buying, lifting its reserves to about 2,387 tonnes, or 9% of total reserves. Poland bought 8 tonnes and leads the year with 98 tonnes, reaching 648 tonnes against a 700-tonne target. Russia went the other way, selling 6 tonnes and 56 tonnes year to date.
