GOLD SLIPS AHEAD OF FED MINUTES
Gold futures edged down 0.2% to $4,180 an ounce as markets wait for the minutes of the Federal Reserve's September meeting, due Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET. At that meeting the Fed raised its benchmark rate by a quarter point to a range of 3.75% to 4%, in a unanimous 12-0 vote, saying inflation "remains elevated." Traders will look for clues on whether more hikes are coming.
