75% OF AMERICANS NOW OPPOSE A DATA CENTER NEAR THEIR HOME
Three in four Americans would oppose a data center being built near where they live, and 61% strongly oppose it, according to a Heatmap News poll by Embold Research. A year ago the country was split, with 43% in support and 42% opposed. The backlash is already costing developers: at least $260 billion in data center investment was canceled this year after sustained local opposition, about half of it in the third quarter alone, according to Heatmap Pro data.
